Override and exception memo review

An override is a credit event. The memo that accompanies it should be able to stand next to the application file and explain, in financial terms, why the engine outcome was set aside. Many memos do not. They repeat the score, name a relationship, or cite ‘management comfort’ without tying the exception to capacity, collateral, or a documented policy gate.

We sample override and exception files over an agreed period or product. For each file we read the original pack, the engine outcome as recorded, the override paper, and any subsequent conditions. We ask a narrow set of questions: is the financial reason stated, is it supported, and is it the kind of reason your policy actually allows?

The output is not a league table of officers. It is a picture of where exception writing is doing its job and where the file would not survive a later review by Bank Negara supervisors, internal audit, or a purchaser of the book.
