A scored file can look complete while the income figure on the form cannot be reproduced from the payslips, statements, or accounts attached to it.

What a file-level financial audit is not

It is not a credit decision, not a scorecard validation, and not a promise that arrears will fall. It is a reading of whether the application can support the use that was made of it.

A well-drawn sample of application packs can show how income and purpose are being evidenced. It cannot certify a portfolio. The report should say so in plain language.
